Crystal IS, Inc. (www.cisuvc.com), an Asahi Kasei company; founded in 1997, is a recognized pioneer in the development of single crystal aluminum nitride (AlN) substrates.  Our unique technology allows us to manufacture UV-LEDs with unsurpassed performance within the optimum wavelength range for germicidal disinfection. Commercially viable UV-LEDs will open new markets in water disinfection and bring a safe, environmentally friendly source of water to more people. 

 

Crystal IS is looking to hire a Senior Crystal Growth Engineer at its' Albany, NY Corporate Headquarters.  This is a new role that will have a tremendous opportunity to impact the growth and success of Crystal IS.  We are looking for an experienced professional to lead the process development, process improvement, and integration of our core AlN bulk growth technology and assume responsibility for process (and quality) transfer from R&D to production. 

 

We are looking to identify and hire an inventive hands-on leader focused on achieving results.  The qualified candidate will be a self-motivated team player who can lead technology and people.  From a technology perspective we require demonstrated experience generating new ideas that result in IP and leading problem solving and new technology implementation initiatives.  From a people leadership perspective you should be able to demonstrate past successes leading, mentoring and developing staff. 

Duties: 

Day to day responsibilities would include:

 

  • Ownership of processes in the lab and projects in wafer manufacturing that improve quality, yield, productivity, and cost.
  • Establish manufacturing and engineering procedures, protocols, and qualification plans.
  • Continual analysis of process and manufacturing data.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes by diagnosing the root cause of process related issued and proposing and implementing solutions to improve performance. 
Qualifications: 

To qualify for consideration as our Senior Crystal Growth Engineer you must have a history of developing and implementing processes that turn ideas into actions; demonstrated capability presenting technical findings to internal and external audiences; possess a history of generating new ideas; and, have successfully worked across international and cross functional boundaries.

 

Education / Experience Requirements

 

  • Interested candidates should possess a PhD along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Outstanding track record and hands on approach in the management of complex crystal growth projects.
  • Extensive experience in the design of crystal growth equipment (RF heating, Pyrommetry, Vacuum Technology, control systems, etc.
  • The ideal candidate is familiar with Wide Bandgap semiconductors or high temperature crystal growth processes (AlN, SiC, GaN, Sapphire, etc.).
